About Sirona Technologies

Sirona Technologies is a start-up focused on direct air capture (DAC) to remove CO2 from the atmosphere and tackle climate change. Following two successful fundraising rounds, we’re now focusing on deploying our first capture facility.

We are seeking a mission-driven project finance professional to join our team. As a member of the core team, you will be expected to rapidly take ownership and grow your responsibilities. You will work across topics, always focused on realizing our ambitious goals.

We are a growing company, so joining us now will make yourself critical to the company in just a few months. As you book significant contributions to our overall success today, you will build your track record to be part of tomorrow’s key leaders of the company.

The ideal candidate should have project finance experience, and a willingness to grow in a more complete leadership role.

On the job, you will make our projects come to life

As Project Finance lead, you will spearhead the setup and funding of our first capture facility, its scale-up, and future projects. We currently have a TopCo in Belgium and a project entity in Kenya (AssetCo), and your role will be mostly focused on scaling the financial capacities of the Kenyan entity, while structuring the financial management of the two entities:

  • Model the project financing plan of the AssetCo. That will include detailing the profitability objectives and interacting with the engineering team to improve the financial profile of the project
  • Lead the development and the execution of the fundraising strategy for the project. This will require to develop a blended finance approach, interact with a wide spectrum of different capital sources, and apply strong business development skills to create a blueprint for a pioneering project. Amounts that will need to be raised in the next 5 years are equivalent to setting up your own investment fund.
  • Coordinate project finance modelling and monitoring with the project development team. Working along the Kenyan based team, you will be expected to contribute to financial and legal discussions in project development, as well as to contribute to the project development strategy fully focused on scaling our operations as fast as possible.
  • Next to the AssetCo, you will become the financial person of reference for optimizing our financial management in R&D activities, securing grants, and structuring the project financing for the building of our manufacturing plant in Belgium.
  • Support the financial management of the TopCo. You will contribute to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and across different technical teams.
  • As an experienced profile in a start-up, your input will also be expected to contribute to other business activities. Think about developing and implementing the supply chain strategy, commercial strategy, or operations scaling.
You are the right person, show us you have some of these traits
  • Eagerness to work in a multidisciplinary environment, with the ability to move quickly from one topic to another
  • Curiosity and drive to solve complex problems
  • Ready to work independently when necessary, taking ownership of assigned topics and proactively suggesting solutions when facing a challenge
  • Strong interest in carbon removal (CDR), DAC technologies, or climate change mitigation
  • Results-driven approach to work with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bias for action, preferring to do and learn rather than conceptualize the theory
  • Willing to learn and grow in a fast-paced and hands-on environment
What we expect from you
  • 3-7 years of proven experience in a relevant environment, for example (but not limited to) project finance, project management, investment, financial or management consulting, audit
  • A degree in Business, Economics, Financial management, Engineering, Science, or other relevant fields
  • Openness to travel (20-30% of your time in function of fundraising momentum)
  • Willing to work full-time in the office, preferably in Brussels (Nairobi also possible). We are a hardware company and we stay close to the operations to guarantee a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
If you're passionate about fighting climate change and eager to join a fast-paced organization where your contributions will have a substantial impact, we'd love to hear from you.
