About Sirona Technologies

At Sirona Technologies, we are developing direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the air and combat climate change. We are scaling up our prototypes into industrial machines ready for mass production and on track to deploy our machines to operate them in Kenya.

We are looking for a highly motivated and mission-driven engineer to join our team in Kenya. You will play a critical role in deploying, operating, maintaining, and improving our DAC machines on site, including our pilot plant. You will be expected to start with a few weeks/months in Belgium, and then to rapidly ramp up to successfully operate in Kenya.

Responsibilities

As an DAC Engineer at our Kenya site, you will:

  • Assist with the deployment, installation, and commissioning of our DAC machines on site.
  • Operate and monitor the machines to ensure they run efficiently and meet performance targets.
  • Troubleshoot and find creative solutions to technical issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team in Belgium to communicate operational feedback and provide insights for design improvements.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Document operational learnings, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Support the development and implementation of operational procedures and safety protocols.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Contribute to training and knowledge sharing with team members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical or operational role within an industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with remote teams.
  • Eager to learn, adapt, and grow in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to Belgium to work with the team
Nice to haves
  • Experience in a similar role within the renewable energy, environmental technology, or process industries.
  • Familiarity with DAC technology or similar carbon capture methods.
  • Previous experience with remote or field-based industrial operations.
  • Understanding of local regulations and practices in Kenya.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting for operational metrics.
