About Sirona Technologies
At Sirona Technologies, we are developing direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the air and combat climate change. We are a young startup in the R&D phase, scaling up our lab prototype into larger machines and first series.
We are looking for an exceptional and mission-driven Build Engineer to lead the construction and assembly of our next-generation direct air capture machines. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our machines are built efficiently, to specification, and on schedule, while motivating and guiding the team responsible for the build.
Responsibilities
As a Build Engineer, you will:
- Develop and manage detailed build planning for the assembly and build process, ensuring compatibility of responsible engineers’ schedules.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure all components, tools, and resources are ready for machine assembly.
- Define and lead the assembly process, providing hands-on support and guidance to deliver on time the machines. This includes leading a team of technician
- Oversee the integration and assembly of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to meet design specifications.
- Supervise initial machine testing, troubleshoot issues, and implement modifications to ensure the machine operates according to performance standards.
- Keep inventory up to date, avoid delays and interact with responsible engineers and supply chain team in charge of the interactions with the suppliers. Ensure timely delivery of parts and materials, while monitoring inventory levels and avoiding delays.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks during the build process to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
- Ensure that the team follows safety protocols, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience in building of electro-mechanical machines, with a focus on hands-on involvement, planning and leadership.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic system integration and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate resources effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve challenges quickly and effectively.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document processes and provide clear team instructions.
- Hands-on, proactive, and mission-driven, with a commitment to building high-quality machines that deliver real-world impact.
- Smart but humble, with a bias for action.
Nice to haves
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, metal fabrication, component sourcing) and material management.
- A strong network of suppliers (machinists, metal cutters, injection molders, etc.) and knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of global supply chains (e.g., Europe vs. China).
