About Sirona Technologies
At Sirona Technologies, we are developing direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the air and combat climate change. We are a young startup and are now scaling up our prototypes into industrial machines ready for mass production.
We are looking for an exceptional and mission-driven prototyping engineer to build test benches and prototypes. As a member of the core team, you will be expected to rapidly grow your responsibilities in order to help fulfill our ambitious goals.
Responsibilities
As a prototyping engineer, you will:
- Design, develop and operate test benches for multiple use cases, e.g. to validate hypotheses before we use them in our bigger prototypes or to characterize materials in our chemistry lab.
- Work with the team to clarify their needs and find the best solution to meet them
- Troubleshoot hardware problems and find creative ideas to fix them
- Thinking creatively to find hacks that will provide the same results but much faster or much cheaper
- Perform tests and calibrate your test bench to validate performance
- Identify and work with suppliers to get the best price and best lead times
- Contribute to the scale-up process of our prototypes, up to our production modules
- Manage the workshop and available tools to meet the future needs of the team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field with a focus on practical engineering
- Experience building hardware from the ground up (e.g. competitions, personal projects, …)
- Experience in prototyping and/or test campaigns
- Agile and creative mindset that can hack common problems with out of the box ideas
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Smart but humble, with a bias for action
Nice to haves
- Experience in workshops, prototyping & automation
- Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamic, chemistry kinetics &/or fundamentals of adsorption/desorption
