About Sirona Technologies

At Sirona Technologies, we are developing direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the air and combat climate change. We are a young startup and are now scaling up our prototypes into industrial machines ready for mass production.

We are looking for an exceptional and mission-driven process engineer to optimize our machine operating conditions. As a member of the core team, you will be expected to rapidly grow your responsibilities in order to help fulfill our ambitious goals.

Responsibilities

As a process engineer, you will:‍

  • Develop and refine our process model including the different components of the machine; using advanced thermodynamic and chemical expertise.
  • Perform tests on the machine to calibrate and validate the model with real data.
  • Investigate the set of operating conditions and identify a stable operating mode
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to facilitate decisions on the operating point trade offs
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to provide clear component specifications, ensuring compatibility with process model.
  • Contribute to the scale-up process of prototypes, ensuring that designs are feasible for industrial production.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders, aiding in decision-making processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on process engineering
  • At least 3 years of experience in relevant field
  • Proficient in process software (e.g., gProms, Aspen Adsorption, Simulink, ChemCAD, GSPro)
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for model development and analysis
  • Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamic, chemistry kinetics & fundamentals of adsorption/desorption
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Smart but humble, with a bias for action
Nice to haves
  • Experience in the field of direct air capture or related environmental technologies
  • Familiarity with Simulink
  • Hardware experience to support the rest of the team in the workshop
