About Sirona Technologies

At Sirona Technologies, we are developing direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the air and combat climate change. We are a young startup and are now scaling up our prototypes into industrial machines ready for mass production.

We're looking for an exceptional and mission-driven chemical engineer/scientist to join our team. You will play an essential role in researching, synthesizing, tailoring and shaping the sorbents for our direct air capture machines, as well as informing the scale up of the production process, thereby bridging the gap between academia and industry.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research to drive the development of advanced CO2 sorbent materials for a more efficient DAC process.
  • Design, plan, and execute experiments for synthesizing and shaping sorbents, ensuring the collection of high-quality data and meticulous analysis.
  • Develop and validate proof-of-concepts for the process, contributing to the optimization of CO2 capture systems and technology.
  • Drive innovation by proposing and implementing creative solutions to complex problems, pushing the boundaries of the current sorbents for CO2 capture technology.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team to address interdisciplinary challenges spanning various fields.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in carbon capture and related fields (e.g. conferences) and incorporating these findings into the development of our technology.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, patent applications and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Requirements
  • Masters or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field
  • Some professional or research experience in synthetic chemistry, materials characterization
  • Strong interest in experimental design, execution, and data analysis
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative, curious and pro-active
  • Smart but humble, with a bias for action
Nice to haves
  • Experience in adsorption processes
  • Experience in heterogenous catalysis
  • Experience in porous material shaping
  • Experience working with amines
Location
  • Brussels, Belgium
